Is Pizza Your Favorite Food?

If you were to stop a handful of people on the street and ask them what their favorite meal was, the odds are that many of them would say pizza. Pizza is not only a delicious meal, it is convenient, somewhat nutritious, and it is always going to be a treat. Of course, there are some things that can be done different with the pizza that is going to make it more of a popular choice, such as adding the right type of toppings or ordering it from a restaurant that really knows how to do pizza right. So regardless of whether you are ordering Richmond Pizza or if you’re getting it from a pizza south San Franciscoparlor, you can make sure that you get what you like and know that you are going to enjoy it fully.

As an example of something that you could order, let’s say that you’re ordering from a pizza San Ramon parlor. Perhaps it is a new pizza parlor that you have never tried before, so you want to make sure about their crust types as well as the type of sauce that is used, whether it came out of a can or if it was something special. You should also ask specific questions about the toppings. For example, do they use onion slices or dices? Do they put the pepperoni on early so that it is crisp, or is it all put on later so that it is overly greasy? Knowing these things about the pizza at the time can help you to make a wise decision when ordering it and will make everyone happy.

The Perfect Pizza

What was the last time you had a slice of pizza? Perhaps a better question would be, when was the last time you had an excellent slice of pizza? For many of us, pizza is something that is a food of convenience, but in many cases, it can also be one of the most delicious foods that we ever have. That is why it is important for you to consider, not only the pizza place where you’re going to be picking up the food but also the type of food that they have to offer. So it doesn’t matter if you are going to be picking up a thin crust Pizza in Redondo Beach, a veggie pizza in Boise, or just a plain cheese pizza in Richmond, you want to make sure that it is going to be the best pizza that you ever had.

The two main ingredients that are in the pizza are going to be the crust and the sauce. Of course, all of us love the cheese, but in most cases, there is going to be very little variation in the type of cheese that is used from one pizza place to another. The sauce, however, is really going to be what allows the flavor of the pizza to come through, and the crust is going to form the basis on which the whole pizza rests. If those two things are in place, and you absolutely love what they have to offer, you are then in a position to build the perfect pizza all the way to the last topping.

The Dilemma of Modern Food

Conventional wisdom teaches that we can obtain all the vitamins and minerals that our bodies need from a diet which consists mainly of natural carbohydrates, i.e. vegetables and fruit.

Take a look at “healthy” food, i.e. fresh fruit and vegetables off the shelf:

1. Beans and lettuce – contain 25% of the most important minerals that should be present when grown naturally, except for sodium, manganese, iron and copper. These minerals are virtually non-existent.

2. Cabbage – contains 30% of natural content but almost no sodium, manganese or copper.

3. Tomatoes – contain 20% calcium, 7% magnesium, 25% potassium but virtually no sodium, manganese, iron or copper.

4. Spinach – 500%* calcium, 23% magnesium, 3% potassium, almost no sodium, manganese, iron or copper.

Source: Rutgers University 1993: Study of Micronutrient Value of Commercially Produced Vegetables compared with Naturally Grown Products.

Core Finding: Modern fresh vegetables contain only 13%, on average, of the essential micro-nutrients that could be expected to be present in organically grown produce.

An even worse real-life scenario

The real-life situation is even worse than these figures suggest.

*For example, on the face of it the 500% calcium in spinach looks good. Bear in mind that the utility of calcium depends on a delicate balance between the amount of calcium, magnesium and potassium in your food. Note the dramatic upset in the ratio between these three minerals. This effectively reduces the value of the apparently high calcium content to virtually nil, because your body is unable to absorb and utilize the mineral calcium if magnesium and potassium are not also present but, very importantly, in the correct ratios.
